About

I'm a native Texan and have spent all but the first 6 years of my life in Austin. Despite growing up in Texas, I'm told I do not have a "Texan accent". My "American accent" is a gift I frequently credit to my early addiction to the television show Sesame Street. I guess I should feel blessed that I did not end up speaking like Big Bird or Snuffleupagus.

My education has been mostly self-provided, with my only formal training in mathematics. My father was very adept at teaching me to teach myself. Thanks to him, I had a computer, and the ability to program it, at age 9. And so I developed useful skills in programming and electronics early on, beginning a career in software development in 1988, before I'd even left secondary school.

Early success in the high tech field led to a long-time, full-time position as a software developer and methodologist at a major semiconductor manufacturer. All the while, I toyed with photography, illustration, and music. But in 2003, the itch to be creative—graphically creative—became a passion I could no longer satisfy with my personal projects. It was then that I became a part-time freelance graphic designer and photographer.

I continue to live and work in Austin with my wife, Emily, and two dogs, Data and Geordi.
