Billy Crockett
When long-time friend Ben Kimball called to ask if I might want to do some photography for a client of his, I had no idea that I would soon encounter the truly interesting and beautiful place called Blue Rock. It is an artist’s ranch, catering to musicians, writers, painters, and anyone needing to get away and create. Nestled in the hill country, it offers a spectacular view and architecture inspired by old Texas garrisons. Ben’s father, Lou Kimball (http://www.loukimball.com), was the architect and created a truly marvelous retreat.
The proprietor, Billy Crockett, is a songwriter and recording artist. I initially came in to simply photograph this new place in preparation for its grand opening. Ultimately I would assist in the graphic design of the website, invitations, and later Billy’s personal site, often working with materials from Billy’s long-time friend and graphic designer who focused primarily on print deliverables, applying them to online media.
