Ethnic Loft

When Maria Scelsi decided to open herown business, she approached me for help.  I worked closely with Maria to develop an identity for Ethnic Loft that would reflect an ethnic style without leaning too far towards one ethnicity—she imports products from all over the world.

Since this is a physical store with a variety of products ranging from small decor items to large furniture, we designed a product pricing tag that could be attached by twine.  This allowed Maria to indicate the price and details about an item without harming it.  The tags themselves carry the identity and can be seen dangling on products throughout the store, inviting you to read about the item.

I also worked with Maria to develop gift certificates and gift bag stickers.  I developed advertising for various print campaigns including local magazines and postcard deck distribution.

With the demands of a new store, keeping an online inventory or conducting e-commerce was not the top priority.  The website was developed to convey Ethnic Loft’s sophisticated, elegant style and invite customers to visit the store.  I took many photos in the store to get a sampling of the variety of products.  An online viewer provides the potential customer with large images to see the quality of each item, but without requiring Maria to maintain an accurate online inventory that would be constantly changing.
